What time is check-in?

The check-in time at our Barrow, Alaska hotel is 3:00 pm.




Do you offer ADA Accessible rooms?

Yes, the Top of the World Hotel has six ADA compliant rooms with accessible features. You can book the rooms on our website or request an ADA compliant room upon arrival. It’s best to reserve the room as early as possible to ensure availability.



What is the weather like?

Weather in the arctic can change rapidly and it is suggested that you pack layers of clothing, weather resistant outer apparel and footwear as well as hat, gloves, sunscreen, sunglasses and bug repellent



Can I bring my pet?

Unfortunately, pets are not allowed at our mid-town hotel in Barrow, Alaska. We do, however, allow service animals. Please inform the hotel when making reservations that a service animal will be joining you during your stay.



How do I get there from the airport?

A complimentary shuttle that will take you to/from the hotel. We have a restaurant conveniently located on the first floor of our hotel. Arrange transportation at least 48 hours in advance of your arrival by calling us: 907-852-3900


What are your service hours at the hotel?

Our exceptional team is always ready to cater to your needs. We have staff available at the front desk 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Niggivikput offers American cuisine and operates daily. Monday-Saturday from 6:00am to 8:00pm and on Sunday from 8:00am to 8:00pm.

What time does the tour start and how long does it last?

The Day Tour is offered during our summer season beginning May 15th. Tours are offered once a day. The tour starts daily at 10:00am ending at approximately at 2:30pm.



What vehicle should I expect when I take my tour?

We offer a variety of vehicles.  Tour vehicles might vary from day to day depenidng on the number of guests on the tour each day.


 

What should I wear on the tour?

Weather and temperature in the Arctic can fluctuate at a moment’s notice, so be sure to dress in layers for your  comfort.



What do we do on the Tundra Tour? 

Guests can expect a comfortable ride to a variety of locations thoughout the Land of the Midnight Sun.

A narration through the communities scenic and cultural sites. The tour will take you on a short walk          through the tundra to view ancient Inupiat sod hut remains. As well as other historical locations throughout Barrow (Utqiagvik). 

A drive out towards Point Barrow, as far as the road is able to take you. Here you will have the chance to dip your toes into the Arctic Ocean. Don’t worry, if you’re brave enough, you’ll have a chance to earn your Polar Plunge Patch at the end of the tour. 

A firsthand look at the Inupiat Heritage Center’s Traditional Room, where you can meet Inupiat artists and see their intricate work on baleen and carved ivory crafts. 

Also highlighted is the whaling history exhibition. Take a look into whaling traditions, tools, equipment and Umiapiaq (traditional whaling skin boat).  

Be on the lookout for arctic fowl and small animals. Other animals that may be seen but cannot be guaranteed are snowy owls, arctic foxes, caribou, polar bears, seals, walruses, and whales.
